Brow Lift
Eyebrow drooping, furrowing, and excessive horizontal lines of the forehead are noticeable signs of aging. This prompts others to ask if you are tired, or even angry, regardless of how you may actually be feeling. Non-surgical improvement of the “angry” furrows between the brows and forehead wrinkles involves using BOTOX® Cosmetic, soft tissue fillers, or similar injectable products. On the other hand, with droopy brows, the use of these products creates a “heavier”, and more tired appearance. In these instances, a minimally invasive brow lift improves deep frown lines and horizontal forehead creases while reducing the droopy appearance of the eyebrows.
Brow Lift Consultation
During the brow lift consultation, Dr. Behmand will evaluate not only the forehead, but also the eyelids, and the face. Other procedures, such as a facelift, eyelid surgery, or laser resurfacing, may complement the effect of a minimally invasive brow lift, and Dr. Behmand will discuss those with you.
FAQ’s
- Are the incisions visible?
- No. And Endoscopic Brow lift is minimally invasive. The incisions are small, and hidden in the hairline.
- Can the Brow lift surgery be done with another procedure?
- Absolutely! Patients frequently combine brow lift with upper or lower eyelid surgery, facelift, and fat grafting to the face. Some patients will also combine a brow lift with certain body procedures to optimize their recovery time.
- Can this be done under local anesthesia?
- A brow lift is performed under intravenous sedation or general anesthesia.
- Are the results similar to that of BOTOX® Cosmetic?
- No. A brow lift tightens your brows, slightly lifting the sides. As a result of a brow lift, you may strain less to raise your brows, which can also help decrease your forehead lines. However, BOTOX® Cosmetic is designed to smooth the forehead by reducing muscle activity, and is not a replacement for it.
The Brow Lift Procedure
The brow lift procedure is a minimally invasive surgery, performed through small incisions in the hair-bearing scalp. Dr. Behmand uses a delicate fiber optic camera for visualization. The skin around the brows is freed from its low position, and tightened slightly higher, and to the side. He then closes the small scalp incisions.
In some instances, patients with a high hairline, or long forehead, may wish to shorten the forehead. In a forehead shortening procedure, Dr. Behmand lifts the brows through an open incision. At the same time, he moves the hairline into a lower, more youthful position on the forehead. Patients with a naturally high-positioned hairline are ideal candidates for forehead shortening surgery, not those with a receding hairline. Shortening the forehead eliminates the aging appearance created by a long forehead.
Patients will typically require at least one week to rest and relax in the comfort of home to help recover from the brow lift operation. Dr. Behmand may advise an alternate recovery period based on the individual’s specific health history, age, and performance of additional procedures.
